Welcome to the Cooperative Pharmacy Program (CPP)

José O. Rivera, Pharm. D. Director

The University of Texas at El Paso, in cooperation with the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, offers a six-year curriculum leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree. Upon completion of required studies, the doctorate degree is awarded through UT Austin in cooperation with UTEP. This cooperative program is designed to facilitate access to the College of Pharmacy in Austin by providing opportunities to fulfill graduation requirements in El Paso. The Program has instituted the goals of enhancing the accessibility of pharmacy education for the young people of El Paso; alleviating the shortage of pharmacists in El Paso; diversifying the pharmacy profession by adding more pharmacists into the profession who are sensitive to the unique needs of a largely Hispanic population; serving the pharmaceutical care needs of the underserved in the El Paso region; researching border health pharmaceutical care issues, and providing drug information and analyses for health care providers in the region. Students enjoy the benefits of a small program, along with the advantages of a major university that offers a varied, high-quality undergraduate program in preparation for pharmacy. For more information on this program visit offices or call for further information.
